Hydrogen is going to play a prominent role in our energy systems, highlighted by the global developments and interest of various stakeholders from industries, government and researchers. To make global missions, roadmaps, ambitions and targets achievable, there is a need for teaching and training enthusiasts who want to learn and study about Hydrogen energy value chain. This book covers all the different aspects of the Hydrogen energy value chain, including production, storage, transportation, safety and utilization. It includes the methods of Hydrogen production from fossil fuels and renewables, its separation and purification; Hydrogen storage in the compressed, liquid and solid state forms; transportation of Hydrogen using tube trailers, trucks, pipelines, ships, in the form of LOHC; Possible risks, hazards and ways to mitigate those and Hydrogen sensing are considered while discussing Hydrogen safety. Utilization of Hydrogen in various domestic and industrial sectors, Energy conversion devices including fuel cell and Hydrogen internal combustion engine, along with techno-economic comparisons of each of these technologies are also covered here. Solved problems are included at the end of each chapter to provide a better understanding of the concepts discussed.
This book will serve as a textbook for courses related to Hydrogen and Hydrogen dedicated specializations at different institutions. It can be a useful reference for all individuals who are keen and enthusiastic about learning the various aspects of Hydrogen.

Prof. Pratibha Sharma is currently Associate Dean (Academic Programmes) and a Professor in the Department of Energy Science and Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. She also holds the Cummins Chair Professorship at the Institute. Prof. Sharma is a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering and a recipient of several recognitions, including the Outstanding Service Award from the International Association of Hydrogen Energy. She has contributed as an expert to various inter-ministerial committees and is on the evaluation panels of various National funding agencies in the field of hydrogen research and development. She is a member of the advisory group to India's National Green Hydrogen Mission. Her research focuses on hydrogen storage materials, metal hydride based systems, hydrogen infrastructure development, solid-state storage technologies for various applications including both stationary and vehicular. She has several patents, multiple peer reviewed Journal publications, thesis supervisions, prototypes and technology demonstrations to her credit. She has also led several national and international collaborative projects with academic, governmental, and industrial partners, with several outcomes contributing to national hydrogen initiatives. Along with her research contributions, she has been engaged in capacity-building efforts through national and international workshops, professional training programs, short term courses and a widely attended NPTEL course on "Hydrogen Energy : Production, Storage, Transportation and Safety".
