Twenty-two American academics and researchers contribute 11 chapters showcasing new research in the study of dynamics in geographic domains, including new perspectives on theoretical aspects of geographic dynamics as well as novel computational modeling and visualization-related studies. The book stems from an October 2006 workshop held in Linthicum Heights, Maryland, by the University Consortium for Geographic Information Science Linthicum Heights. Eleven contributions are organized into sections on cognitive aspects, representation, and data models; analyses, computation, and modeling; and visualization and stimulation. Editors Kathleen Stewart Hornsby and May Yuan bring together prominent and respected specialists to create a multidisciplinary book that combines coverage of topics from the perspectives of GIS, computer science, image processing, and information and data processing.
