Libraries are regarded as hubs that provide literary resources in various forms. This collection of articles draws attention to the needs of learners and students in the 21st century who require more than textbook information to do their school work. It represents an important contribution to research on learners and reading, reading acquisition, and information literacy.
Dr Nkhangweni Patricia Mahwasane obtained her doctoral degree with a dissertation on the topic "School libraries and the development of reading habits among rural Foundation Phase (grade three) learners in Vhembe district, Limpopo Province." She has published seventeen peer-reviewed papers about libraries, reading and learners. She is an editorial board member of five journals and an honorary advisory member of the Research Association. She is a life member of the Library and Information Association of South Africa (LIASA), and has extensive experience as a teacher, teacher librarian, academic librarian, and researcher in library matters.
