The many and varied manifestations of violence that permeate the Book of Psalms can be off-putting for modern audiences. Although the violence in the poems might leave readers cold, it remains a hot topic that requires careful consideration. The contributions of this volume deal with the theme of violence and the Psalms from different methodological perspectives. They focus on various aspects and manifestations of the complex phenomenon of violence (physical, verbal, emotional, psychological, structural, etc.), their expressions in single or groups of psalms and the Psalter as a whole and employ a variety of approaches to interpret the biblical texts.
