Durga Leela presents an empowering, personal recovery program for yoga teachers and yoga therapists supporting clients through recovery from addiction. She integrates yoga philosophy and physical practices - such as hatha yoga, yoga nidra, restorative yoga, and pranayama - as well as the psychology of yoga and Ayurveda, for a program suitable for those who have sex addiction, eating disorders, for codependents with no substance abuse, and for anyone who wants to learn lifestyle and stress management skills.

By offering an empowering personal program of self-care in recovery, this book provides guidance for everyone affected by widespread modern 'addictiveness'.

The book explores Ayurveda's understanding of both the problem of our 'one addiction process' and its solution. It offers holistic techniques that enhance any of the traditional recovery pathways and beyond any of the common diet/exercise dogma from mainstream media. It covers the stress/addictive tendencies of the doshic types, and links this to how stress affects metabolism, the main determinant of health. The program offered in the book is an integration of the philosophy, psychology and physical practices of Yoga and Ayurveda to help people shift their life trajectory.

With Yoga of Recovery, author Durga Leela presents a complete resource for working with individuals recovering from addiction.

Arvustused

Most of us are addicted to something-- whether we've thought of it in those terms or not. I don't know of a more intelligent, compassionate, personal, compelling, relevant modern resource to help us navigate to a better place. A heartfelt, "thank you" to Durga Leela. -- Dr. Claudia Welch, author of Balance Your Hormones, Balance Your Life; Achieving Optimal Health and Wellness through Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, and Western Science and The Four Qualities of Effective Physicians This book is honest, real and profound. It is a must-read for yoga teachers, Ayurveda practitioners and counsellors and anyone interested in self healing. Yoga of Recovery addresses the root cause of human suffering and the separation from the truth of our real Self. -- Swami Sitaramananda, yoga and meditation teacher, director of Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centers In Yoga of Recovery, Durga Leela weaves together the threads of her life story, the wisdom traditions of yoga and Ayurveda, and the twelve step path of AA. The result is a beautiful tapestry that shines with the promise of healing, hope, and transformation. I pray this offering gets into the hands of everyone struggling with addiction as well as everyone who has a loved one trying to find their way. -- Jivana Heyman, C-IAYT, E-RYT500, Founder and Director of Accessible Yoga, Author of Accessible Yoga: Poses and Practices for Every Body
